Racers will run 2.5 miles of trails, mountain bike 10 miles, then finish with another 2.5 mile trail run.
The course will involve running Loop A twice and mountain biking A, B, C, D loops.
Race Direction: Run A Loop Clockwise, Bike loops Clockwise, Run A loop Counter Clockwise.
Special Heartbreak Participants: To celebrate this time of year (Valentine's Day), the top three coed couple will receive a special award for having the fastest combined race time.
The couple does not have to stay together. We will simply add each racer's finish time to create the Heartbreak time. Prizes will include a pair of Salomon shoes for at least the 1st place couple!
Simply register as normal (solo) and tell us on race day, who your partner is!
Required Equipment:
- Mountain bike;
- Mountain bike helmet;
USAT Sanctioned Event!!!
Racers are required to have a license from USAT to participate. USAT Licenses are available for purchase before the race starts. One-day license is $9. One year license is $30.
Schedule:
- 8:30 am Race check-in (no raceday registration)
- 9:30 am Pre-race meeting
- 10:00 am Race Start
WEATHER:
* If we have inclement weather (lightening) and have to cancel the race, we may reschedule the event, or, more likely, give a 50% transfer credit to another event.
TRANSITION AREA:
**This may change** Blackjack campgrounds. Only racers will be allowed in the Transition area during the race. Racers will enter and leave the TA for each leg through designated areas, during and after the race. Violations may result in disqualification.
AWARDS:
Each finisher will receive a medal (or other finisher award).
Age divisions are in 5-year increments, with the exception of the first and last. 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, ..., 80-84, 85+
Age division awards will only be purchased for age divisions with five or more competitors registered and paid by January 6, 2007.
Salomon shoes will be given away after the event in prize drawings!
Extra T-Shirts! This race will have some cool, long-sleeved T-shirts and we should have extras. You can purchase extras for $12 each on race day (maybe cheaper)!
Cancellations: Compared to other race directors, we have a VERY generous cancellation policy (see below); however, we will strictly adhere to it. Racers are not officially registered, until we receive payment. No transfer credits for cancellations.
