The Backpacker Bushwhacker Adventure Challenge

Team Backpacker/The Bicycle Shop, in association with SteelSports.net, GO Physical Therapy, Varsity Sports, Mockler Beverage, The North Face, Smartwool, Princeton Tec, Nalgene, Salomon Sports, Hammer Nutrition, E-Caps and many more, are pleased to present the Backpacker Bushwhacker Adventure Challenge.

This March 3rd event will take teams of three all around the Baton Rouge area on a course designed by the members of Team Backpacker/ The Bicycle Shop and Team SteelSports.net. We’ve all been competing in adventure races for many years and have been on many courses designed by many different race directors, so we hope to combine our experiences and bring something new to the sport in Baton Rouge. Teams should expect to mountain bike 16-20 miles, run 4-6 miles, paddle 4-6 miles, climb  - and who knows what else - to make their way around the course. Think you know your way around town? Let’s find out together .We promise a fun race for all teams and volunteers and we promise to take you to the cool parts of Baton Rouge that you’ve never seen.

Because this is an adventure race, teams should be prepared to do some basic map, compass and UTM coordinate navigation for part of the course. It’s really easy to do and it’s fun. If you aren’t familiar with topographic maps and UTM coordinates, let us know and we can get you started. For those who are less comfortable with this, we can check your map work for you before you hit the course. We just want everyone to have a great race.

If you’re interested in volunteering or becoming a sponsor, please contact us as soon as possible. Also, please feel free to post this message on any user groups or web forums.
